Jennifer, You most likely don’t remember me. My name is Kerstin and I was charged with a DUI for prescription medications and other crimes against humanity. (LOL) I would just like to advise all the nurses out there to talk with you before taking any actions.

Receiving a diversion letter is terrifying to anyone with a sane mind. One of the problems with the letter is that it does not inform you of what you are being accused of. Your mind spins and spirals out of control with all the imaginary things you could have done. This leads to panic and bad decisions. You feel like you are literally trapped in an awful place. It is all sugar-coated until you read the fine print (ie. Nobody will be told except the people that matter.) I remember being in utter despair when I dialed a number and you answered the phone. Your kindness and advice were a godsend. You made me feel like I was still a person of value and that meant the world to me.

I just want other nurses to know that calling and talking to you may be one of the most valuable things they could ever do for themselves. Note to other nurses: Jennifer is extremely informative about the issues you are facing. She is a kind and compassionate listener. She will steer you in the right direction and make all of this seem much less scary. She is a great resource and a relentless advocate for the nursing profession. I will alway’s be grateful that she was in my corner. There is one more thing I would like to add. This is a real, authentic endorsement, for an authentic human being. That is hard to come by in my book. To give back to other nurses facing these difficulties, please give her a call. You will never be sorry you did.
